These wings can be used for angels, insects and maybe
even birds! |
Materials
- 2
wire coat hangers
- 1
pantyhose – white for bee, any colour for butterfly
- elastic
- tinsel for angel
|
 |
Method
-
Using
pliers, attach the hooks of two wire coat hangers together.
Make sure they are well inter-twined. (I left this job to
my engineering husband! - if this looks too complicated simply cut of
the hook of the coat hangers and masking taped the twisted sections
together.)
-
Bend
coat hangers into wing shapes.
-
Place
each wing into the leg of the pantyhose.
Use pant section to wind around the mid section where both
hangers are joined together.
-
Cut off hemmed top of pantyhose (due to its bulk) and glue in
place. (If using a large
pair of pantyhose it is probably better to cut legs off before
covering coathanger.) Another option is to cover the join with
fabric like the wings above.
-
Attach
two loops of elastic (each 36-38 cm in length) to centre of wings so
child can where on back.
-
For
butterfly’s wings, decorate with glitter and/or paint and/or
coloured pieces of fabric. Add tinsel to edges to make angel
wings.
