Costume Headband

Materials

  • fabric (cotton) 10 cm x 40 cm – black is preferable for spider, bee and ladybird, any colour for butterfly
  • 2 litre fizz/soda bottle
  • two pipe cleaners – yellow for bee, black for spider, red for ladybird, any colour for butterfly
  • 2 small pom poms – black for spider, yellow for bee, red for ladybird, any colour for butterfly
  • narrow elastic

Method

  • Cut from fizz/soda bottle a ring of plastic approx. 3½ cm wide.  Cut along side so that you have one long piece of plastic.  Trim sharp corners.
  • Fold fabric in half and sew along one short edge and long edge.  Turn to outside and press.
  • Insert plastic and sew end.
  • Make two tiny holes 3½ cm either side of centre.  Insert pipe cleaners and sew in place over end of pipe cleaner.
  • Attach approximately 20 cm of elastic to ends of plastic to form headband.
  • Glue pom poms to tops of pipe cleaners.
  • Alternatively, cut ear shapes out of fabric and attach to headband.
