These wings could be used for children who object to
the size and bulkiness of coat hanger
wings. This is an adaptation of the angel wings in Australian
Smocking and Embroidery Issue 40 (I made these for the girls for a
nativity play and they were really cute!) |
Materials
- Wing Pattern Template
(This is quite large, designed to fit an A4 page - you may need to
copy the image onto your hard drive to print out)
- 30 cm of 112cm wide fabric
- quilt wadding
- (optional) pipe cleaners
|
 |
|

|
Method
- Cut two on the fold of the wing pattern.
- With right sides together attach to wadding. Leave a small
opening so they can be turned inside out.
- Clip corners and turn to right side.
|
- If desired insert 2-3 pipe cleaners so that wings will stay in
desired position.
- Slip stitch the open section closed.
- Attach to Pinafore by sewing along fold
line to complete costume.
- (Optional) Attach a small loop of elastic so that wings can be
placed over button on back of child's clothing.
