Learn More about the Southern Asian Division

The Southern Asian Division includes Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, the Himalayan Regions and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.  Most of the resources on this page focus on India (as they were the easiest to find!).  Look at the resources below for ideas for helping children learn more about this region.

Facts and Figures

  • Geography Analysis Tool  Compare important facts of any country in the world with India, U.K., U.A.E., U.S., Australia and Canada. Population, area, currency, language, religion, number of telephones, televisions....... This is a great tool to give children a little bit more of the gap between their own country and the countries in this division.
  • Indian Embassy India Facts and Figures - a quick overview of some useful information about India.
  • Anamalai:  India's Elephant Mountain - this site has some interesting information on the Asian elephant (including a comparison chart between it and the African elephant) and its place in Indian culture as well as information on a few other Indian animals.
